The Victorian Government has announced a range of tax relief measures as part of its economic survival package in response to COVID-19.
These measures are designed to help businesses and workers get through the current situation.
If you are currently registered and pay payroll tax you may be eligible to have your payroll tax waived for the 2019-20 financial year.
If so, we will reimburse the payroll tax you have already paid in the 2019-20 financial year and waive payroll tax for the remainder of this financial year.
You must still lodge monthly returns and complete an annual reconciliation, but you don’t need to make further payments.
To ensure we can process your reimbursement as soon as possible:
- Log in to PTX Express.
- Click on ‘Apply for a refund’ in the menu on the left hand side of the screen.
- Select Electronic Funds Transfer as your refund option.
You can also defer paying payroll tax for the first quarter of the 2020-21 financial year until 1 January 2021. We will send you more information about this measure in July.
